Lisboa, fim do verão, 1980. Duas irmãs de 16 e 17 anos acabam de chegar de Angola para fugir à guerra. A mãe fica em Angola bloqueada pelo governo. Entregues a elas mesmas, vão ter que aprender a sobreviver sem dinheiro numa cidade estrangeira.
Muitas vezes, no limite da delinquência, Alda e Maria vão começando a diferenciar-se e a tornar-se mulheres. Com o Inverno chega ainda a notícia da morte da mãe. Paradoxalmente, esta novidade aterradora dá-lhes força para pegar no destino pela mão. Lisbon, end of summer, 1980. Two sisters, sixteen and seventeen years old each, have just arrived from Angola, fleeing war. Angola’s government didn’t let their mother out. Having no money, Alda and Maria are left on their own and they will have to learn to survive in a foreign city.
Often on the brink of delinquency, Alda and Maria grow up, different from the others, and become women. Winter brings the news of their mother’s death. Strangely enough, this terrifying news gives them strength to face their own destiny.
