Entre a fábula e a realidade, este filme é uma metáfora sobre a história das civilizações e o fim do paraíso original.
Dizem os Bijagós que outrora, Deus enviou a sua filha à Terra. Ela foi o primeiro ser humano e foi ela quem fundou a aldeia de Anghur no arquipélago de Bijagós.
Daí que ainda hoje nos Bijagós, sejam as mulheres que detêm o poder, que gerem a economia, a lei e o bem-estar social. Profundamente ancorados em tradições ancestrais, educam as crianças no absoluto respeito pela natureza. O desperdício é um crime, a solidariedade é obrigatória e a velhice é protegida.
Tal como num paraíso bíblico, até hoje, os habitantes de Anghur têm vivido num mundo fabuloso de paisagens idílicas e recursos naturais abundantes onde não há preocupações materiais para resolver.
Mas recentemente tem chegado visitantes indesejáveis e potencialmente perigosos. Algo de terrível pode acontecer e o paraíso de Anghur parece ter os dias contados. Between tale and reality, this film is a metaphor on the history of civilizations and the loss of the original paradise.
According to the Bijagós, long ago, God sent his daughter to the Earth. She was the first human being and she founded the village of Anghur, within the Archipelago of Bijagós.
Thus, up to nowadays, women have the power in the Bijagós, they rule the economy, the law and the social welfare. Profoundly attached to their ancestral traditions, they raise their children in an absolute respect for nature. Spoiling is crime, solidarity is compulsive and elder people are protected.
As in a biblical paradise, the Anghur inhabitants have been living in a fabulous world of idyllic landscapes and profuse natural resources with no material worries.
But recently undesirable and potentially dangerous visitors have been arriving and something terrible can happen. It seems like the Anghur paradise may soon come to an end.
